IDA\u2019s strategy<\/a>\u00a0is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG3:\u00a0<\/span>\u2018Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages\u2019<\/em>\u00a0 is of course particularly relevant to IDA\u2019s work, but we believe that we can create most value by looking at all SDGs to see where we can have the biggest impact. As we work towards our mission, we believe that this should never be at the cost of human rights, fair labour practices and the environment, in line with the principles which we adhere to as a participant in the UN Global Compact.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=”https:\/\/idafoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/SDG_UNGC_combined_Sustainability_page.png” title_text=”SDG_UNGC_combined_Sustainability_page” _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_image][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n In 2018, IDA Foundation joined the UN Global Compact, a UN initiative uniting more than 25,000 organisations from over 160 countries. Through participating, we commit ourselves to 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. We see these principles as a logical extension of our values and Code of Conduct and have taken our affiliation with UN Global Compact as an opportunity to further incorporate meaningful developments into our day-to-day operations. A more detailed summary of IDA\u2019s approach to sustainability, as well as our future ambitions and targets, can be found in our sustainability report:\u00a0<\/span>Communication on Engagement 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n In all we do, we are committed to ensuring we fulfil our mission in a responsible and sustainable manner and add value where possible. [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n IDA Foundation’s Sustainability Strategy has identified three pillars:\u00a0<\/span>Purpose, People<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>and<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>Planet<\/em>. Different topics derived from the Sustainable Development Goals in these different categories are more, or to a lesser extent, relevant for IDA Foundation.<\/p>\n The category\u00a0<\/span>Purpose<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>relates to IDA\u2019s mission of bridging the gap in access to medicines and to the achievement of universal health coverage as a long-term goal. We do this by assuring the highest quality, by strengthening local capacity and by creating awareness around topics related to universal health coverage.<\/p>\n The category\u00a0<\/span>People<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>focuses on the health, wellbeing and safety of people in our organisation, in our supply chain and the people that are end-users of our medicines and medical supplies.<\/p>\n The category\u00a0<\/span>Planet<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>r<\/em>evolves around our environmental strategy; which we capture in our Environmental Management System (EMS – ISO14001), focusing on our impacts such as waste management, emissions caused by the transport of our goods, amongst others, and identifying opportunities to improve our approach with our stakeholders.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n With the 2030-goal of neutralising Scope 1 and 2 emissions and reducing IDA\u2019s Scope 3 emissions with 35% set in 2022, we finalised our baseline measurements the year after. For the measuring, managing and reporting of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, we follow the GHG Protocol methodology, and we disclosed the outcomes for our base year in our\u00a0<\/span>2023 Sustainability Report<\/a>. GHG reporting must cover Scopes 1 and 2 as a minimum. Since IDA Foundation takes responsibility, is committed to reducing emissions in our entire value chain and intends to comply with the EU CSRD, our emissions measurement also includes Scope 3. Our\u00a0<\/span>latest 2024 report<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>includes carbon emissions data for 2022, 2023 and 2024, alongside comparisons with the baseline, trend analyses, and the progress towards our 2030 goals. [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n In September 2025, we completed our first Double Materiality Assessment (DMA), conducted in line with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This DMA builds on our 2021 materiality assessment providing a deeper understanding of: We use the outcomes of the DMA to refine and update the structure of IDA’s Sustainability Report, its strategic framework, and its related targets. This is affirmed in IDA\u2019s Code of Conduct, which guides our employees and stakeholders to make the right decisions in the performance of our daily business. This ensures that we act with integrity, respect for the law and in line with IDA\u2019s core values.
